Job Summary

Our Client, an Agricultural Company, is looking for a qualified Assistant Lab Manager who will be involved in assisting in the production of banana seedlings for commercial planting. The role requires adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and maintaining a sterile environment while performing various laboratory tasks. The technician will work closely with a team to ensure the lab operates efficiently and safely. As is required in any project the support and involvement of all aspects of the projects troubleshooting and problem solving.

Responsibilities;

• Overall management of tissue culture lab and nursery.
  
• Management and training of all staff under your management.
  
• Support planning and design of tissue culture lab and nursery.
  
• Responsible for maintaining the facility to a high hygienic standard.
  
• Responsible for the growth of seeds for the project.         
  
• Responsible for security protocols for tissue culture facility.   
  
• Responsible for the sourcing of all requirements for the facility
  
• Pinpoint and solve problems.
  
• Planning and organization awareness.
  
• Weed and pest management.
  
• Full financial plan for the running expenditure of the lab for the project.
  
• ​Support along with any activity that is deemed to be I direct lines of the project
  
  

Requirements

• Previous experience in Banana Tissue Culture.
  
• Prior experience in a laboratory management role
  
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety and regulatory requirements
  
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets
  
• Experience in budgeting and financial management
  
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  
• Certified in laboratory safety or management
  
• Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or related field
  
• In-depth knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures
