Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to lead and
oversee all technical and engineering operations at our sisal decortication factory. The CTO will
provide strategic and hands-on leadership to optimize our systems, enhance efficiency, and
solve persistent technical challenges, including conveyor belt alignment and machine
performance issues. This role requires an individual with exceptional engineering expertise and
a proven track record in managing industrial systems, particularly in agricultural or
manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Technical Leadership:
Develop and implement technical strategies to improve the performance and reliability of
factory operations.
Lead innovation initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce downtime
- Engineering Oversight:
Supervise and manage all technical operations, including machinery maintenance, conveyor
systems, and decortication processes.
Solve recurring issues such as conveyor belt misalignment with sustainable solutions.
- Team Development:
Recruit, train, and manage a team of engineers and technicians.
Establish a knowledge-sharing culture to upskill in-house staff.
- System Optimization:
Conduct regular audits and implement preventative maintenance plans.
Ensure compliance with operational standards and safety regulations.
- 5Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with the GM and management team to align technical goals with business
objectives.
Liaise with equipment suppliers and consultants to implement best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in industrial or agricultural manufacturing environments,
with 3+ years in a senior technical leadership role.
- Expertise in conveyor belt systems, decortication machinery, and alignment
technologies.
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning and troubleshooting of industrial
machinery.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to work on-site full-time in Tanga, Tanzania.
