Job Summary;
As a Fleet and Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation and maintenance of an organization's fleet of vehicles and managing the activities of the workshop. This role requires a strong combination of leadership, technical, and organizational skills to ensure that the fleet is well-maintained, complies with regulations, and supports the overall goals of the organization.
Responsibilities;
- Liaising with HR for the recruitment of quality drivers into the fleet
- Managing drivers so they adhere to schedules, maintain discipline and operate within the bounds of company policy
- Ensuring vehicles are compliant with local laws and regulations
- Keep track of vehicles on a day-to-day basis
- Scheduling and monitoring regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and minimal downtime
- Track fuel consumption and efficiency, and take preventive measures when consumption is over permissible limits
- Monitor fuel purchase systems (by using fuel cards, etc)
- Facilitate and implement corrective actions and capacity building to manage the entire fleet to achieve company objectives
- To act as the accountable officer for all Workshop related activity; ensuring that vehicles are maintained and repaired to a safe and legal standard
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers and affiliate workshops
- To define and agree service levels and key performance indicators with internal departments and end users
- To manage the performance and productivity of Fleet Workshops, ensuring vehicle downtime is minimized, meets agreed service standards and vehicle availability is reported proactively for service users
- To write detailed reports and business cases recommending course of action for accidents and major incidents
- To deal with complaints and ensure customer satisfaction in Workshop related activities is promoted
- To monitor expenditure against delegated budgets and ensure financial regulations are adhered to
