Our client, a leading company within the Mining Industry is looking for a Senior Human Resource Officer will oversee all HR functions at the mining site, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with labor and site-specific regulations. The role involves coordinating onboarding, training, and workforce administration to ensure operational efficiency and legal compliance. The officer will support supervisors and employees on HR policies, manage time and attendance systems, and prepare workforce reports.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the end-to-end recruitment and selection process for site-based roles, including job requisitions, interview scheduling, pre-employment checks, and onboarding activities.
- Handle employee relations issues such as grievances, behavioral concerns, and disputes in line with company procedures and site agreements.
- Carry out performance-related processes, ensuring timely facilitation of appraisals, documentation, and follow-up on performance improvement actions.
- Implement and enforce HR policies and site procedures, ensuring consistency, legal compliance, and alignment with workplace agreements.
- Ensure adherence to employment laws and industrial relations obligations, escalating issues as required, and maintaining accurate compliance records.
- Maintain and update employee records, rosters, role changes, and employment documentation to ensure accuracy and currency.
- Oversee day-to-day administration of leave, rosters, and time & attendance systems, supporting alignment with site rosters, rotations, and payroll timelines.
- Coordinate training logistics and ensure compliance with required site inductions, certifications, and training renewals.
- Support employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives, including site-based communications and feedback activities.
- Prepare and submit workforce and HR reports such as absenteeism, turnover, headcount, contract expiry, and compliance metrics — for internal use and audits.
- Contribute to workplace safety by supporting HSE teams with HR-related safety processes, including incident reporting and return-to-work coordination.
- Provide HR guidance to supervisors and employees, responding to queries and ensuring consistent interpretation of policies, agreements, and procedures.
- Verify and track bus fare receipts and reimbursements, ensuring documentation received from the Finance Department is accurate and complete.
- Ensure all salary advance requests are submitted to the HR Manager for review and approval, following up to guarantee timely processing.
- Report on all employee-related issues, concerns, and operational matters promptly and clearly to the HR Manager.
