Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to oversee and manage
dry cargo transport operations, sales orders, and customer service for our business across
Tanzania and neighboring regions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring
smooth and efficient logistics operations while maintaining strong customer relationships and
planned business growth, ensuring on-time deliveries, and optimizing sales order processes for
dry cargo across multiple markets.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and manages local and cross-border dry cargo transport operations, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery.
- Coordinates fleet movement, monitors turnaround times, and optimizes routes to reduce fuel costs and empty runs.
- Oversees customer order processing and ensures accurate, on-time fulfillment aligned with business growth targets.
- Acts as the main point of contact for key clients, addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and maintaining strong relationships.
- Ensures proper loading and unloading at depots, warehouses, and client sites, maintaining smooth logistics flow.
- Supervises drivers and operations staff, provides training, and monitors performance and compliance with standards.
- Maintains up-to-date regulatory documentation, including permits, licenses, and customs clearance requirements.
- Tracks operational costs such as fuel, repairs, and allowances, and implements cost-saving measures.
- Prepares reports on deliveries, incidents, and fleet performance to support decision-making and improvements.
- Enforces safety procedures during transport, handles incidents, and ensures compliance with transport regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience managing dry cargo operations, with at least 3-5 years
in cross-border logistics and customer management.
- Strong understanding of East & Southern Africa regional transport networks and
regulations.
- Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in transport management systems, order processing tools, and Microsoft
Office.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Kiswahili and/or French is a plus.Strong Analytical and Decision-Making Skills
