• Implement and enforce health and safety policies in compliance with Tanzanian mining laws and company standards.
  
• Conduct safety audits and legal inspections to identify risks and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  
• Lead and document incident investigations, identifying causes and implementing corrective measures.
  
• Perform hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA) to mitigate workplace hazards.
  
• Provide safety training and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
  
• Ensure all employees and contractors comply with legal and regulatory requirements related to mining safety.
  
• Monitor the effectiveness of safety procedures, proposing improvements where necessary.
  
• Maintain accurate safety records and reports for internal and external audits.
  
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk evaluations to ensure a safe working environment.
  
• Collaborate with operational teams to develop and implement emergency response plans.
  
• Ensure compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  
• Stay up to date with Tanzanian legal and regulatory changes in mining safety.
  

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in mining or coal operations as a Safety Officer.
  
• Certifications: Valid certifications in Incident Investigation, HIRA, Risk Assessment, and Mining Legislation & Regulations (Tanzania Law).
  
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of **safety regulations, risk management, and emergency response procedures.
  
• Auditing & Inspections: Proven ability to conduct safety audits and legal inspections in mining operations.
  
• Legal Compliance: Knowledge of Tanzania’s mining laws and regulations regarding occupational health and safety.
  
• Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety (OHS) best practices in mining.
  
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and implement safety solutions.
  
• Strong communication and training abilities to educate employees on safety practices.
  
• Ability to work independently and in teams to promote a proactive safety culture.
  
• Attention to detail and report-writing skills for documenting safety reports and inspections.
