The General Manager will oversee the operations of a clearing and forwarding logistics company, leading a team of 40 staff, including 15 office personnel and 25 long-haul vehicle drivers. The role requires active client engagement, business development, and operational leadership to ensure efficient logistics services. The General Manager will control expenditures, drive profitability, and align business operations with the company's key performance indicators (KPIs). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of clearing procedures, logistics operations, and relevant statutory and financial aspects of running a business. Proficiency in logistics software and ERP systems is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 40 staff, including office personnel and long-haul drivers, ensuring efficient operations.
- Monitor daily truck movements, address delays, and guide the operations team to maintain productivity.
- Engage with clients to secure container bookings, develop subcontracting opportunities, and drive business growth.
- Prepare competitive analyses to expand the client base and maintain existing business relationships.
- Write proposals, specifications, and quotes to secure new business opportunities.
- Control expenditures and manage P&L to meet company KPIs and financial objectives.
- Support the CFO with timely invoicing and payment collections to ensure positive cash flow.
- Ensure compliance with clearing, export, and transit shipment procedures, especially for minerals from neighbouring countries.
- Oversee logistics operations and create policies and procedures to streamline activities.
- Plan and implement material flow management systems to meet client requirements effectively.
- Utilize logistics software and ERP systems to enhance operational efficiency (preferred but not mandatory).
