Job
Summary.
The Technical Manager has the ultimate
responsibility and accountability for the safe, efficient and cost-effective
performance of the company. He/she advises, updates and monitors the budget and
expenditure of the department, manages the maintenance of the vehicles to
ensure they are roadworthiness and continued compliance to regulatory
requirements. The
Technical Manager monitors adherence to the organization’s risk management
procedures and develops a framework to manage risk in the organization, and
oversees the implementation of workflow improvements that may enhance
customers' satisfaction.
Responsibilities;
- To manage all the workshops, repairs
and maintenance of the vehicles of the company.
- To manage and oversee all the mechanics and
technicians.
- To assist in procurement of the spare parts and
vehicles of the company.
- To set up workshop policies and procedures.
- To manage and look after all the company’s
vehicles.
- Make recommendation for the acquisition of new equipment or
the replacement of old ones.
- Analyze risks of potential business
opportunities.
- Check status of pending defects,
inspection findings and audit findings.
- Conduct interviews and make
recommendations on new hires such as mechanics and technicians.
- Develop a framework and process to
manage business risk.
- Develop strategies for resource
planning and utilization.
- Evaluate effectiveness of systems
and strategies to monitor compliance.
- Formulate budgets for the
department.
- Monitor results of all vetting
inspections.
- Oversee implementation of workflow
improvements to improve efficiency.
- Review purchasing performance to
identify shortcomings.
- Set goals and expectations, and
coach crew in line with organization’s competence and performance management
objectives.
Requirements
- Should have a Degree in Mechanical Engineering
or related fields.
- Should have minimum 5 years of working
experience in technical or mechanical department.
- Experience in Transportation or Logistics
Company will be an added advantage.
- Should have experience and knowledge in vehicle
analysis.
- Should have computer knowledge and skills.
- Good communication skills, both
written and verbal.
- Self-motivated with the ability to
work under pressure and under own initiative.
- Problem solving skills, analytical
skills and the ability to make decisions quickly.
- Organizational and team leader
skills.
- Knowledge of process improvement and
validation.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards
relevant to the industry.
- The ability to investigate and
identify trends.
