Job Summary,
Our Client, a Tourism and Hospitality Company is looking for a qualified Candidate who will be responsible for provision of technical support in the construction and monitoring of
sites, buildings and the maintenance of properties of the company.
Responsibilities;
- Management of the Maintenance of the Estate and the Facilities Entities.
- Responsible for the maintenance management function including the
provision of quality, timely and cost-effective management services and the execution of the budget ensuring that all programs
are completed on time and within budget.
- Responsible for the supervision of the maintenance staff that supports
the daily operations of the facility including the organizations Estate and pertaining to its activities in Tourism and Conservation.
The Head of Estate Management and Technical Services is also responsible for the productivity and development of the
department’s employees.
- The main function of the Estate and Technical Services department is maintenance of man made structures including but not
limited to all buildings, power generation systems (inclusive of solar systems and diesel-powered prime movers), HT power
distribution, HVAC systems, boreholes, water distribution and Roads. He/she will also be responsible for all equipment including but not limited to air conditioning units, chilling and freezing plants and
units, laundry equipment and all kitchen equipment.
- The department provides services to the lodges, camps all staff hostels and other accommodation, offices, stores and warehouses,
and the workshops. The Head of Estate Management and Technical Services is therefore fully responsible for all aspects of Estate
and maintenance on the property and must ensure that all the equipment’s are fully operational. The department must also ensure
that preventive maintenance is carried out on a continual basis and coordinated professionally.
- The Head of Estate Management and Technical Services primary objective is to provide service and support to the two core
elements in the organization: Tourism and Conservation. The Head of Estate Management and Technical Services has to be
acutely aware of the inter-connectivity of the different elements of the organization and the direct and indirect roles that they play
in supporting the core functions and consequently his and his department’s role in this complex system.
- The Head of Estate Management and Technical Services ability to effectively communicate by means of electronic, personal and
other means with all Lodge Managers, Section Managers in Conservation and other Department Heads is therefore of vital
importance.
- Fiscal answerability in a department that is responsible for the bulk of the investment in the organization is another area of great
importance. The Head of Estate Management and Technical Services is therefore responsible for the department’s budget and
consequently for all orders placed for the department which must be done keeping the quality required in mind and a fair price
paid for it.
- The Head of Estate Management and Technical Services will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any
other job-related duties requested by his or her supervisor.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical, Civil engineering, or related field.
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience in a managerial position in a related field.
- Extensive maintenance and operational knowledge of civil infrastructure and related support systems.
- Computer literate (All Microsoft Office elements. CAD an added advantage).
- Working knowledge of Building Management and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
- Project Management experience.
- Experience in Hospitality Industry.
- Experience in Design of Building Services.
- Safety in Engineering Workshops knowledge.
- Must be able to work under pressure and manage and big number of team with different technical backgrounds.
- Capable of communicating and working with peers and colleagues at different levels and of various backgrounds in various departments in a
proactive and constructive manner.
- Working knowledge of power generation and distribution, water production and distribution and borehole maintenance.
- Maintenance and operational knowledge of modern HVAC systems.
- Maintenance and Repair of Portable Electrical Equipment.
- Electrical fault finding of wiring systems, motors and electrical equipment.
- Ability to liaise and interact with Design Consultants, Engineers and Architects.
- Working Knowledge of gravel road construction and maintenance.
- Ability to write reports, operational correspondence, and procedures.
